Opinions and analysis -- The ER contest...of DEATH!!
OK, so Brooke laid out the rules for the ER contest, and of course, I hereby ratify the established rules -- pending the inability of my team of lawyers to identify any inherent biases within those rules. Lawsuits may be forthcoming, so stay tuned.
Apparently, this contest is generating quite a buzz in the US media. And as one might expect, certain newspapers seem to be endorsing either me or Brooke in a viciously partisan way. Along with this comes extremely harsh criticism of the opponent, often cited as being dubious in regards to veracity..
For example, the New York Post is endorsing me as the eventual winner of the ER contest of death. Here is an excerpt from one of their most recent articles:
From the article entitled, "www.webguywilldiefirst.com"
"Despite the utterly bombastic claims of Brooke and her cronies, further analysis clearly disputes the sheer truth of those claims. Perhaps the most touted accomplishment of Brooke's team, the extreme intestinal pain followed by the accidental near-death blood IV accident, was in a reality more like 'a minor tummy ache caused by the ingestion of one too many jolly ranchers followed by a severe papercut'. Although most accounts of the incident discuss a doctor citing a frighteningly low blood pressure, other reputable sources indicate that the numbers were not describing blood pressure, but the halftime score of a NJ Nets basketball game! As usual, the inherent bias in the media distorts irrelevant information and uses it to twist the truth."
However, there are an equal number of papers filled with partisan harangues that support Brooke. One such paper is the LA Times.
Here is an excerpt of an article from the LA Times entitled, "Brooke's got me sold":
"Due to the unwarranted and simply unbelievable barbs being flung in Brooke's direction by the 'Webguy Syndicate', an objective person has to wonder if maybe the Webguy is hooked on illegal drugs from the Internet. (Besides, aren't most Web developers vegetarians that know a great deal about 'herbs' and 'alternative medicine?') It is becoming painfully clear that Brooke has an overwhelming track record of near-death episodes, brutal hospital bunglings, and a proven ability to bleed faster than any other human since written records began to be archived. Since Jeff has no previous track record of medical episodes at all until this year (and even then, his record is sketchy, at the least), it's no wonder that he would resort to such a negative and mean-spirited campaign....but then again, what else should we have expected, given what we know of the person?"
It appears that future columns will only get more divisive and partisan, until the bell tolls...
